Hoopoe-Tour

The Hoopoe Trail leads around the southern part of the former mining landscape near Schlabendorf. From Fürstlich Drehna via the Heinz Sielmann Wanninchen Nature Experience Centre to the Schlabendorf marina, it follows the former edge of the open-cast mine. It goes through young forests and along young lakes. At the Schlabendorfer and Stiebsdorfer lakes, there are beautiful spots for sweeping views, relaxing breaks and wildlife spotting.
The Fürstlich Drehna Landscape Park invites you to take a stroll around the picturesque castle pond. The Heinz Sielmann Wanninchen Nature Experience Centre provides an insight into the exciting development and the flora and fauna of the open-cast mining landscape, which can only be walked around, not through. For safety reasons, the closed areas are not to be entered!

Note: Due to closed areas in the post-mining landscape, the hoopoe trail is currently only signposted between Fürstlich Drehna and Schlabendorf. It can be turned into a circular tour if you include Mallenchen and Zinnitz (unmarked field paths or country road, about 30 kilometres in total).
