In the east of the protected area, parts of the little-altered moor have been rewetted. Here there is a large, open area of raised bog that has been created by de-watering and where the bog can regenerate. This area is characterized by moor heath, cotton grass, birch swamp forests and moor grass. Parts of the area are grazed to restrict the growth of woody plants. Existing standing water bodies, some of which were created as peat-draining waters in the course of rewetting, show signs of silting up.
