Fossilized dinosaur tracks were discovered in a quarry near Bad Essen-Barkhausen.

In search of traces of the Earth's history

150 million years ago, we had a tropical climate and the dinosaurs were in charge. In the Upper Jurassic period, at least eleven dinosaurs walked across a temporarily flooded sandbank in today's Wiehengebirge near Barkhausen, leaving their tracks behind. Today, the quarry is an adventure area with two dinosaur replicas, detailed information boards and a circular trail. The old dinosaur tracks can be admired on a steep face. A magical place for children and adults alike, which gives an idea of the prehistoric animals alongside the real footprints.
