A legend surrounds the Old Alexander Church.

Charlemagne himself is said to have had it crowned with a golden hen instead of a weathercock so that it would "hatch" other Christian congregations.
The church was built in its current form around 1140. But the municipality has even more to offer: a modern shopping center with a pedestrian zone, the idyllic landscapes around the Hollager Berg, the Ruller Bruch, the Nettetal and the Stichkanal.
