The Heimathaus grounds with apothecary and farm garden are always worth a visit!

The Low German half-timbered house from 1779 and former local history museum invites you to linger. Whether in the house itself or on the beautiful grounds with orchard, apothecary and farmer's garden as well as Kneipp treading pool and barefoot path, there is something for every taste.

Events in a rural atmosphere
With its museum-like charm and the surrounding natural grounds, the Heimathaus offers you space for events of all kinds. Visit our permanent exhibition "rural way of life", the "Open Heimathaus", our historical theater "Weiberspeck & Herrengedeck", arts and crafts markets, open air events, themed tours, readings, film lectures, cultural events or use the Heimathaus as an event location for your own celebration.

Marriage in a historic ambience
The Heimathaus Rotenburg offers three wedding rooms for those wishing to get married, whether in the Machunsky Room, in the historic parlor for the smallest circle or barrier-free at the fireplace on the Flett for up to 150 guests. The beautiful cottage garden and the surrounding grounds provide an ideal backdrop for the most beautiful photos. You can also hire the hall of the Heimathaus for wedding celebrations after the civil ceremony.

The staff at the  Rotenburg registry office will be happy to answer any questions you may have on 04261 / 71126 or Angelika Pütz on 04261 / 4520.

Collection of historical items
The collection comprises well over 3,000 individual items from Rotenburg and the surrounding area. Furniture, household items, toys, agricultural and handicraft equipment are presented all year round at the "Offenes Heimathaus" and can be viewed in the Historischer Stube, the exhibition rooms and at the Flett.

Free access to agricultural equipment and stone fragments of the former Rotenburg Castle can be found on the grounds. The complete collection is also available online in digital form. If you are interested, please contact us via e-mail sammlung@rotenburg-wuemme.de.
