To the water buffaloes. Start: Corner of "Hördener Straße" - "Zum Immhof"
.
"Zum Immhof" leads us past a wayside cross after a few houses. The Weyher Schuttberg is now on our left. Finally, we come to the cycle path that connects Brinkum and Kirchweyhe. We turn left towards Brinkum and now have a view of the water buffalo. Several benches invite us to take a break.
We continue towards Brinkum, but not through the underpass, instead turning left parallel to the highway feeder road. We follow the path until we reach the highway from Brinkum to Leeste. We turn left, continue along the road towards Leeste, turn into Hördener Straße after a few hundred meters and reach the starting point. The path can be a little muddy at first. There is an amazing wooden cross at the side of the path, which we don't expect to see.
The highlight is definitely the water buffalo enclosure. Binoculars offer a good view of the animals as they dive into the wallow. There is also a picnic area there. Before turning into Hördener Straße, we pass the "Hörden 1250" memorial stone, which commemorates the first documented mention of this small district of Weyher.
The tour can also be found at Komoot.
