Fernwanderweg Roswithaweg: Nienburg-Bad Gandersheim

Hhiking trail covering 184 km from Nienburg to Bad Gandersheim. Marking: XR

The Roswithaweg long-distance hiking trail is a contribution by the Hannoverscher Wander- und Gebirgsverein (HWG) to mark the 1000th anniversary of Roswitha von Gandersheim's death in 1973. It is marked throughout by the HWG with the XR marker and leads in 13 stages from Nienburg on the Weser to Bad Gandersheim on the edge of the Harz Mountains. Stages and walking direction are suggestions and can be chosen freely.

Roswitha von Gandersheim (* around 935; † after 973) was a canoness of Gandersheim Abbey, from which the present-day town of Bad Gandersheim in Lower Saxony emerged. She is considered to be the first German female poet.

The hiking trail leads hikers from Nienburg/Weser (starting point: Weserwall, Hotel Weserschlößchen area, Mühlenstr. 20), through Bad Rehburg, to Rodenberg, Springe, Coppenbrügge, Holzen, Kaierde Ammensen, Kreiensen to Bad Gandersheim.
