Theater im Werftpark Kiel

The Theater is the independent children's and youth theatre division of the Kiel Theatre. 

Since 1989 it has been housed in the former cinema and event house on Kiel's east bank in the so-called Werftpark. 

Since the 2016/2017 season, Astrid Großgasteiger has headed the theatre. In its three event rooms, the theatre offers space for a wide range of theatrical formats, from classical productions, dance and scenic readings to musical evenings and interactive plays.  

In addition to fairy tales, adventure stories and adaptations of classics of world literature, the programme also features productions of contemporary socially relevant material. In addition, there are changing extra events and guest performances by independent theatre groups (such as DeichArt, Integrative Theater Raja or Tante Salzmann). Workshops, theme weeks, follow-up discussions and guided tours as well as performances by the play clubs round off the programme. Close and sustainable cooperation with schools and universities is another focus of the theatre education programme.
