Osnabrück Central Station

The name is a bit misleading; the route only partially follows the course of the Düte River, but not in the valley, rather along the slopes of the Teutoburg Forest, which does demand some stamina from the cyclist. However, interesting perspectives open up, not only through the charming landscape views but also through the entertaining passages through towns.

Route and Sights

If you choose Osnabrück Central Station as your starting point, it is easy to leave the Peace City along the Hase River. Soon the railway tracks disappear from view, and at Gut Sandfort begins the most beautiful nature. This only changes briefly when approaching the Georgsmarienhütte district of Harderberg with its industrial area. But shortly beyond, the view of Osnabrück is excellent. In Kloster Oesede, as the name suggests, parts of a monastery complex dominate the town. Not everyone may know that there is a hidden forest stage with regular summer performances.

And now over hills and valleys along the edge of Georgsmarienhütte towards Hasbergen.
Welcome breaks can be enjoyable visits to the chlorine-free panorama pool or the natural forest outdoor pool of Georgsmarienhütte or the leisure park in Hasbergen. On your onward journey, you will be led directly into the Old Town of Osnabrück, naturally via traffic-calmed side roads. A small detour to noteworthy historic buildings — and you are back at the station.

Signage

The Düte route is integrated into the Osnabrücker Land cycling guidance system (RAVELOS) and is consistently signposted in both directions. The following route logo accompanies you on your tour.
