Original corner tower of the city fortifications, former gunpowder magazine, and prison.
The southeastern corner tower of the city fortifications was originally a gunpowder magazine. In the 18th century, its use changed to a state prison with living quarters for the jailer. Prisoners were "put in irons" there, which led to the name "Eisenhaus" (Iron House). The conditions inside prompted several complaints around 1838, and in 1858/59, a new prison was built nearby. Since then, the tower has been used as a residential building.
