Majestic appearance in the Green Throne Room
Slowly, the Danube enters its throne room. Majestically, it flows through this noble stretch of land from Neu-Ulm in the west to Schwenningen in the east—as if it wants to fully savor the peaceful nature beside its riverbed. The trees of the surrounding floodplains stand in a row for its grand entrance, giving it space to widen and standing protectively beside it. Donaumoos, Donauried, and the majestic Danube cities gratefully greet their Majesty. After all, it was the river that once created the soil for the unique wildlife and plant life of the surrounding nature and set up resting places for waterfowl from all over Europe.
What a pleasure to follow the Danube by bike—or to ride against its current. What a delight to explore the nearby lakes, which offer much-needed refreshment on hot days and are worth a detour in any weather to recharge. What a rest to take a break right by the Danube’s course. The many resting places and viewpoints allow you to enjoy watching the river as it peacefully flows through this noble land.
