Immerse yourself in the world of the late writer Walter Kempowski

The author, who died in 2007, is one of the most important writers of the 20th century.

Haus Kreienhop was his home and workplace, a house built entirely according to his ideas on the outskirts of the village of Nartum, which has a population of 750. The result is a place full of surprises with an inner courtyard, hall, pavilion and tower, book corridors, work cabinets,  "Lottery corner" and veranda.

Haus Kreienhoop has always been a hospitable place. The foundation is committed to this tradition, which Walter Kempowski himself established during his lifetime with seminars, author meetings and many other events. Conferences, readings and concerts organized by the Kempowski Foundation take place here on a regular basis. Tours of the house are also possible by prior arrangement.

The Kempowski Archive in Rostock
You can also follow in the footsteps of Walter Kempowski in Rostock at the Kempowski Archive. He was born in the Hanseatic city. Among other things, manuscripts can be viewed in a permanent exhibition.
