Brentano House (13)

If you come out of the formerly rather modest residential area of Frauengasse, you will find yourself right next to the town's most beautiful secular building, the Brentanohaus. The trading company Brentano-Monticelli & Co., which mainly traded in linen fabric woven in Günzburg and the surrounding area, had this stately residential and commercial building erected around 1750. You can get an idea of the size of carts at that time from the passageway (now the entrance to the house). The head of Mercury (god of merchants) is a 20th century addition, but fits in well with the house's earlier purpose.
