former monastery (10)
Former monastery, now a high school.
Right next to the Cow Tower is the former Franciscan Convent. After the dissolution of the convent in 1782, the buildings were initially privately owned and were purchased in 1825 by the superior of the English Institute (now Congregatio Jesu) to be used as a school. The English Sisters had already been running a girls' school in Günzburg since 1758, and the institution's tradition continued until 2017 with a girls' high school and a girls' secondary school. Today, both girls and boys attend school there. The entire complex was renovated and modernized in the late 1990s. In the spring of 2010, the last nuns left Günzburg, marking the end of the monastic tradition in the city.
