Brewery Rhanerbräu
We invite you to the world of the traditional beer enjoyment, which has been cultivated since 1283.
One of the five oldest breweries in the world is the Rhaner Brewery. The 13th Century: It is the transition from the High to the Late Middle Ages. During this time, works such as the Nibelungenlied, Parzival or Kudrun are created. The glasses are invented. The compass is introduced. Albertus Magnus, Dante Alighieri, Genghis Khan, Francis of Assisi and Thomas Aquinas are the hallmarks of this period. And history is also written in the later district of Cham: In 1283, the Rhaner Brewery starts its business and has been brewing its fine gersten juice ever since. For twelve generations in family hands, Rhanerbräu is not only one of the 10 oldest companies in Germany, but also one of the five oldest breweries in the world. An age you can not look at the brewery, because: On the one hand, it is traditionally conscious, but on the other hand it is full of fresh ideas and always good for a surprise. In 1776 the family of today's CEO came to the company: Dr. Alois Plößl is now in the twelfth generation. And he was, along with his wife, who brought this new momentum into the company. On the occasion of the 700th anniversary celebration in 1983, Dr. Alois Plößl began to pursue ancestral research. This was time-intensive, but brought him back to the roots - to his own and to those of the brewery. After the 725-year celebration a series of incomparable actions have emerged. The time travel is one of them: a weekly special brewery tour with a historical actress who takes the visitors on a journey through the centuries, starting from the founding year. This is so good, that the action in the tourism high season is sometimes booked in weeks before. But also so good that Rhanerbräu received the "Golden Beer Beer", the most important Bavarian beer award. In another event, the Rhaner Beer Culinary, the Plößl couple invites you to a multi-course menu in different restaurants about four times a year and serves a different specialty at each course. You may know something like this from the wine - but beer can also develop a wide variety of aromas with natural brewing methods and without additives. Particularly impressed are many of the Rhaner "Lilly-Bock": because of its higher alcohol content, is much longer lasting than Pils or white beer and unfolds after two to three years of storage even Sherry notes. In 2012 the Lilly-Bock was awarded the "World Beer Cup" in San Diego. Between the aisles of the beer culinary delights, Dr. Alois Plößl and his wife make toddlers. Always new and always personal: In this, they tell stories from their lives, for example those of their first date. However, one can not live on history alone: That is why the Plößl family has developed a strategy of preserving the traditions on the one hand and, on the other hand, always remaining technically up to date on the other. This also includes investing in environmentally-friendly energy supply: the company's facility is therefore home to a biomass cogeneration plant - hidden in the officially largest beer factory in the world. That suits Rhanerbräu: From simple to simple, the family Plößl always makes something special and manages to revive the Rhanerbräu brand again and again after more than 730 years. "We do not want to change our beer artificially. A variety of brewing varieties are the result of an abundance of tastes, which give each variety its unique character, with only four basic ingredients. "
